Enjoy a hot or cold coffee drink and a selection of pastries, paninis and more at Carolina Coffee & Crumbs near Coligny beach. Owner Erika Waronsky, who also owns The Sandbar restaurant next door, welcomes visitors and locals to the island’s newest coffee shop, which opened in summer 2019. The café serves smoothies, breakfast, lunch and creative specials.
Locally roasted by Ian Duncan at The Grind as well as King Bean King Bean Coffee Roasters in Charleston, high quality coffee is the base for the drinks at this attractive shop. A favorite is the Aloha Latte—iced or hot-- made with vanilla, coconut and mocha. The friendly staff offers free refills available on regular coffee. Many pair their drink with something sweet. Classic sticky buns - topped with brown sugar, cinnamon and nuts—are fantastic and homemade muffins, turnovers and donuts also tempt. A full breakfast menu is available. Other options include fluffy omelets and savory quiches.
For lunch, try a panini made with lots of avocado, feta, sun-dried tomatoes, portabella mushroom, feta cheese and pesto on rustic Italian bread. The chicken salad, made of tender chicken breast mixed with mayo, honey, dried cranberries, celery, and pecans can be served in a wrap, croissant or salad.
In good weather, sit outside under an umbrella on the pet-friendly patio. Inside the café is a children’s corner with a chalk board, toys and books.
The restaurants also serves a selection of mimosas, Bloody Marys, wine and coffee cocktails.
